exclusive new stuff
about the artist
Art, design, craft,
and creation in endless
forms are Renée Parker's
passion. Everyday and
everywhere she finds some-
thing that inspires her and
drives her to create. Renée
has been creating since the
tender age of three, cultivating
interests in drawing, painting,
sculpting, building, and repur-
posing old to make new.
Having been fortunate enough to have supportive family and friends, she's been able to pursue many different art forms and enjoy exposure in local galleries, businesses, national magazines, and television.
Her favorite mediums are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, wire, papier mache, and reclaimed fibers, but she has an ever expanding repertoire to suit her endless curiosity and creative passion. Renée hopes to inspire people, especially children, to find something they can't live without and focus on it long enough to make it their own gift back to the world.

Contacting us at Reneezance Art is simple. Use this form to send questions, comments, or inquiries. Just complete the form below, and if applicable, we will respond as soon as possible (usually within 48 hrs).
Where did the name "reneezance art" originate?
reneezance art is my name merged with one of my inspirations, the Renaissance. I'm inspired by
the work of both the Italian and Harlem Renaissance periods because they were times of great creativity,
enlightenment, wider education, and scientific and mathematic discovery.
What are your favorite mediums?
My favorites are constantly expanding as I'm blessed to experience new mediums. I my first love is plain
and simple pencil, because it represents the birth of many of my ideas, sketched onto paper. I love working
in acrylic, oil, and watercolor paints, sculpting in papier mache, wire, wood, and recycled materials, and have a
growing passion for fiber arts such as knitting, sewing, and weaving.
What inspires you?
Almost everything! Seriously, in everyday things, I often find shapes, colors, or textures, that stir something and
cause ideas to flow.
What would you do if you weren't an artist?
I would probably pursue something in sciences and/or engineering, because I love discovering how things work,
and creating more efficient ways to do things or solutions to everyday problems.
How do you come up with your projects?
"How do the projects find you?" is a better way to put it. Ideas for projects show up everyday through observation
of the world around me, and often evolve as personal challenges to create something, often a new twist on an old idea.
What happens when you have a creative block/are stumped for ideas?
I read, get outdoors, travel, hang with friends, go dancing and throw some napping, cleaning, organizing, and exercise into the mix, and before long, the creative juices get flowing again. I've learned not to force it, because solutions or ideas never round themselves out when I strain for them. These days the most down time I seem to need when this happens is two days. By day two, though I've forbidden myself to pick up so much as a piece of printer paper and a crayon, the itch starts to return and I have to make myself go to bed and reserve the force
of it for a new day.
What's your hidden talent?
Not sure I should share that here - it's kind of embarrassing.
A little known fact about your work?
Some pieces "chase" me around for years in my mind before I get around to them. Some pieces can be finished in a day, while others can be started, but then can't be moved forward for a year + until one day lightning strikes and I'm able to finish them in an instant. Also, I take all my photos of my work myself! It gives me special insight into what the works convey, and I'm constantly working to improve my work and photos.

reneezance art
whats that all about?
reneezance (pronounced like "renaissance", or ren-AY-zonts) art is a play on words that combines my birth name with the names of two artistic movements that I've always admired.
The Italian Renaissance of 13th century Europe and the Harlem Renaissance that took place in 1920's New York were, in my opinion, two important periods in the advancement of the arts, sciences, and education. They share a significance with my name that resounds with me in my artistic work and in other areas of my life as well. Both the word renaissance and my name, Renée (see Wikipedia) mean rebirth, or born again, as in the rebirth of the arts. In my continuing rebirth, I hope to inspire you!
